A master thief and the detective hunting him meet once over coffee, recognise each other completely, and destroy each other anyway.

It withholds its feeling as carefully as its thief withholds his life — emotion shows through behaviour, an empty apartment, a vigil by the ocean, two men alone together in a diner. Mann alternates operatic gunfire with long procedural calm so the tension never resolves into simple thrill, and Spinotti's blue-black city becomes its own kind of grief. What you carry out is elegy, not catharsis: two men who see each other perfectly and cannot be anything but what they are.
